Gold Coast Health Plan Hires Interim CEO

Plan Engages Tatum LLC Executive

Gold Coast Health Plan, announced today the hiring of Cassie Undlin as their new interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ms. Undlin replaces Dr. Charlie Cho who had been temporarily filling the position. Dr. Cho will resume his duties as the Plan’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Ms. Undlin is a partner in the Seattle practice of Tatum, LLC, a company known for rapidly providing exceptional C-level executives to fill openings on an interim or permanent basis. Tatum was founded in 1993 and has successfully undertaken thousands of client engagements for organizations around the world.

Ms. Undlin joined Tatum in 2008 and has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare arena. She has served in a variety of roles including chief executive officer, chief financial officer, chief operating officer and board or committee member. At the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), she was accountable for the finance function in three regional offices (Regions 8, 9, 10). She restructured departments, improved results in the fraud area and managed the budgeting function of the fiscal intermediaries assigned to those offices.

Ventura County Medi-Cal Managed Care Commission (VCMMCC) members Roberto S. Juarez, Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc., Robert Gonzalez, MD, Ventura County Health Care Agency and Catherine Rodriguez, Ventura County Medical Health System made the announcement at the conclusion of a closed door session of the Executive Finance Committee meeting. Ms. Undlin’s appointment was greeted by applause by a number of GCHP staff on-hand.

"I’m delighted to accept the position as the Plan’s interim CEO." She added, "It’s going to be a lot of fun, it’s going to be rewarding and I’m so pleased to be here at Gold Coast Health Plan."

The commissioners had been appointed to identify an interim CEO at a held Wednesday the 14th. Ms. Undlin’s appointment begins immediately.
